  • Monthly or annual subscription to CTC Math or Saxon Math. 
  • Join the Official Robinson Curriculum Facebook Group.

Setting up the binder

What is required?

  • 2" binder
  • 1  composition notebook
  • Saxon Answer notebook.
  • Double sided divider pockets for Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Other.
  • Sheet protector pockets
  • printer
  • Kindle or Nook for books if desired. (You can get almost all of the RC books downloaded quickly to a kindle or Nook.)
  • stapler
  • laminating machine or index cards and a glue stick.

In binder from front to back:

  • Writing divider pocket. Put composition notebook in pocket.
  • Reading divider. Current 5 vocabulary words & blank book report page in front pocket.
  • Full Robinson Curriculum reading list in sheet protector. 
  • Mathematics divider. Put the Saxon Answer notebook in a pocket.
  • Other divider. Contents may vary. Cater to interests.

  • Learn letters using magnetic letters and a chalk board. They name the letter, make the sound, write the letter.
  • Learn numbers. Start introducing addition and subtraction with objects.
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

Kindergarten

  • Continue learning letters & numbers.
  • Use scavenger hunts. Make a list of 5-10  three letter words. Hand the child a basket. If they can read the words and bring the items they get to pick an item from the prize basket (raisins, small gift). Work up to longer words.
  • Have child read loud from the bible or Dr. Seuss books. 
  • Begin copy work.  Short passages from the bible or bible stories. 
  • Continue with addition / subtraction using any manipulative you can find.
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

First Grade

  • Copy work. Use Bible or similar. Work up to longer passages. Letters must be well formed. Work must match exactly.
  • CTC  Math. Stretch attention span, but don't push it too far.
  • Use an abacus for tactile math. There are some great Japanese sorobon workbooks. This teaches all that common core is attempting to do so poorly, but in a time tested and wonderful way. 
  • If child is reading, they read for 30 min to 1-hour. They read aloud for 10-minutes. Dr. Seuss Books work wonderfully, especially for speech issues!
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

  • Copy Work. Working up to longer passages.
  • CTC  Math - work up to an hour.
  • Robinson Curriculum & other books. They read aloud for 10-20 minutes (Dr. Seuss Books work wonderfully!) and then they read quietly for up to 1-2 hours. 
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

Third Grade

  • Copy Work. Working up to longer passages.
  • Introduce dictionary. Help child look up any misspelled words.
  • CTC math for 1-hour. Start memorizing multiplication tables.
  • Child reads quietly for 1-2 hours using Robinson Curriculum & other books. They read aloud 20-minutes from Bible or. Dr. Seuss Books.
  •  Vocabulary flashcards from Robinson Curriculum.  
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

Fourth Grade

  • Copy Work. Working up to longer passages. If child is proficient alternate with writing a full page (every other line). 
  • Child looks up any misspellings in dictionary.
  • CTC math for one hour. Get multiplication tables memorized. Once memorized stay with CTC math or switch to Saxon Math.
  • Child reads quietly for 1-2 hours using Robinson Curriculum & other books. If needed they read aloud 30 minutes.
  •  Vocabulary flashcards from Robinson Curriculum.  
  • Nature Hikes, Walks, Explore!
  • Read to your child A LOT.

Fifth Grade

  • Child writes a full page, alternate between writing and copy work. 
  • CTC or Saxon math
  • Vocabulary flashcards from Robinson Curriculum. 
  • Child reads quietly for 1.5-hours.
  • (optional) Cosmos, Nova, Liberty Kids, Cultural/Educational movies, GamED.

Sixth Grade

  • Child writes  one full page, 
  • CTC or Saxon math. 
  •  Vocabulary flashcards from Robinson Curriculum.  
  • Saxon Grammar 1 lesson per day.
  • Child reads quietly for 1.5-hours. Robinson Curriculum & other books.
  • (optional) Cosmos, Nova, Liberty Kids, Cultural/Educational movies, GamED.
